Déise Days: Our Waterford 2040 Exhibition

Déise Days: Our Waterford 2040 Exhibition

Exhibition Runs 11 – 31 October at The Index Gallery, Central Library.

The exhibition is organised by Waterford City & County Council’s Libraries, Climate Action Team & Arts Office and is supported by Creative Waterford as part of The Imagine Arts Festival.

Responding to the urgent call for climate action in Waterford City, each piece in this collection serves as a concise graphic narrative. By combining recognizable local landmarks and features with actionable steps at an individual level, my goal is to foster a profound connection to our shared future, stirred by the urgency for change.

The six pieces represent six moments in one citizen's day, where our future actions take inspiration from traditional life. The illustrations stand as a call to mindfulness and a plea for collective responsibility through actionable art—a testament to the power of small daily actions in crafting a resilient and sustainable future for Waterford. Through the introduction of collaged illustrated risograph maps of the city, I have taken a hands-on approach to symbolise the tangible steps required for a sustainable future. I hope viewers emerge with a newfound commitment to their small daily actions, understanding that, together, we shape the fate of our home.
